Abstract
Double-layer truss domes, characterized by their spatial configuration and complex dynamic behavior, require accurate information about their dynamic properties as an essential basis for seismic analysis and performance optimization. This study investigates the influence of modeling and analysis parameters on the accuracy of natural frequencies extracted from numerical models of double-layer truss domes, and proposes a corresponding error-compensation model. The analysis employs the Least Squares Complex Frequency (LSCF) method to extract natural frequencies from numerical models developed in MATLAB and OpenSees and to examine the error variation trends associated with each parameter. The results indicate that while parameters such as mesh density, global dimensions, analysis integration rate, loading intensity, damping ratio, and modal order each influence frequency identification accuracy, their effects can be unified under a single governing mechanism, namely the proximity of the identified natural frequency to the analysis integration rate. Based on these parametric sensitivities, a unified predictive model is established to estimate and adjust for potential identification errors. Under the assumptions adopted in the numerical simulations, the proposed model reduces the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) from 12.5% to 0.63%, providing a practical tool for correcting frequencies extracted from numerical simulations, such as those used for machine learning datasets, structural health monitoring through model updating, as well as for guiding the selection of analysis parameters in dynamic simulations, where the vibrational properties embedded in the computed response may deviate from conventional modal analysis results.
